What happens during PicoSure treatment?

When you arrive at NUWA WORLD for a PicoSure procedure, you sit in a comfortable chair and relax. Dr. Nwaubani can apply a numbing cream to your skin prior to treatment if you’d like.

They apply PicoSure laser energy to areas of your skin with imperfections. It might feel like a rubber band snapping against your skin, but numbing cream diminishes this sensation to enhance comfort. The procedure lasts about 10 minutes for skin revitalization or removal of an average-sized tattoo. 

What should I expect after the procedure?

After a tattoo removal, you may see a slight whitening or “frosting” of the skin which will subside immediately after the treatment. You may also experience mild swelling and redness.

Results from acne scar and tattoo removal are permanent, and skin revitalization treatments are long-lasting.

Make sure to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays before and after PicoSure treatments by using sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or greater.

How many PicoSure treatments will I require? 

To help you achieve the most desirable outcome, Dr. Nwaubani may recommend a series of 2-5 treatments every 2-6 weeks for skin revitalization, or 4-10 treatments every 6-8 weeks for tattoo removal. Every patient is different, but it typically takes 4-8 weeks for your body to absorb the ink particles.  

Periodic maintenance sessions are beneficial after a completed series of antiaging skin treatments. Dr. Nwaubani personalizes each PicoSure treatment plan based on the condition of your skin and end goals.
